Friday’s 58th Pay Less Little 500 final qualifying session offered only one “bump,” as Troy Underwood of Jackson, Mich. earned the 24th starting position for Saturday night’s 500-lap USAC Special Event Sprint Car Classic at the Anderson (Ind.) Speedway. Underwood “bumped” Ron Koehler from the lineup.

Drivers Tom Paterson and Don Johnson completed qualifying attempts on Friday, leaving Johnson as the first alternate for the $121,705 race. Saturday night’s race winner receives $25,000 plus accessory and contingency awards.

Defending seven-time winner Eric Gordon will be joined in the 33-car field by former race winners Jeff Bloom and Bentley Warren, as well as 10 race rookies.

Rookies Shane Cottle and Lee Boss will start alongside pole winner Aaron Pierce on the font row of the three-abreast lineup. The race starts at 8 pm Saturday night.
