Pierce Wins 58th Pay Less Little 500 Pole

Aaron Pierce, of Muncie, Ind., grabbed the pole position for the 58th running off the Pay Less Little 500 on Thursday afternoon at Anderson Speedway in his Sam Pierce Chevrolet Beast Chassis. Pierce becomes the 38th competitor to earn a pole position for the Pay Less Little 500 and the first driver from Indiana since Tray House in 1995.

Pierce’s four-lap qualifying time of 45.161 seconds paced first-round qualifying, which determined the first five rows of Saturday's lineup. The final 18 starting spots are up for grabs in second round qualifications on Friday afternoon.

Pierce has made three appearances in the country’s greatest Sprint Car race, with his best performance taking place in 2004 when he finished second to winner Eric Gordon.

Joining Pierce on the front row will be Kokomo’s Shane Cottle, who was 0.211 seconds behind Pierce’s pole winning time. Lee Boss, of New London, Ohio, completes the front row starters. Both Cottle and Boss will make their Pay Less Little 500 debut.

The top 15 qualifiers were locked into the 58th running of the Pay Less Little 500. Among those drivers, two former champions have guaranteed starting positions. Seven-time winner Eric Gordon will roll off sixth in his Bowman Racing entry while Michigan’s Jeff Bloom, will start in the 15th spot.

On Friday, the 33-car field will be set with the second round of qualifications, taking place from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Later that night, the Families Forever / Primerica Free Night will showcase Insight ThunderCars, Pro ThunderCars and Chappy’s Rent to Own Front Wheel Drives in Oval and Figure 8 action.

The racing action begins at 7:30 p.m., followed by an awesome fireworks show. Admission is free for all events on Friday.

On Saturday Night, the 58th Pay Less Little 500 green flag waves at 8 p.m. Tickets are available for the legendary 58th Pay Less Little 500 at $27 for reserved seating.
