From
USAC Racing
Stephanie
Mockler kicked off the 2006 USAC Regional Midget Car Series schedule last
Saturday with a victory at Mansfield Motorsports Speedway, and will lead the
series into the Wednesday’s race at Anderson Speedway.
Mockler’s victory in the 25-lap season opener – co-sanctioned with the Wolverine
Outlaw Winged Midget Series – came in the No. 6 East Enterprises Beast/Ford, as
she led the final five laps of the race to beat Tom Hessert III and Scott Thoman
to the stripe. Hessert and Dan Drinan also took turns in the lead.
The Mansfield feature was the first of 21 races on the Regional Midget Car
Series calendar. Wednesday’s event starts “Wednesday Night Thunder” for the
Regional Midgets, which will share a tripleheader card with the USAC Indiana
Ford Focus and Kenyon Midget Car Series divisions.
Hoosiers Jamie Williams of Columbus and Jonathan Hendrick of McCordsville are
the reigning champions of each division of the regional Ford Focus and Kenyon
divisions, which were held in 2005 at the Indianapolis Speedrome.
On Wednesday Night, spectator gates open at 5 p.m. with the racing beginning at
7. Admission is $10 for adults and $4 for kids ages 6-12. Children five and
under get in free.
