Producing his best career season in the Ed Martin Auto Group Super Trucks in
2004, Mike Mendenhall enters the 2005 campaign with high hopes of building on
his success from one year ago.
“I was happy with the season we’re able to put together in the Super Truck
division last year and hopefully we can post even better results this year,”
said Mike Mendenhall. “Finishing second with some of the mechanical problems we
experienced last season, I’m pleased that we have made the correct changes to
challenge for the championship.”
Mendenhall placed second in the final point standings to champion Josh Burton.
He drove his No. 2 Super Truck to the Texas Roadhouse Winner’s Circle on
Saturday, July 24. He also posted one fast time and led the division in top
fives with 12 and top 10s with 14.
The second-place point finish continues to mark an improvement for the Anderson
racer as he finished 10th in 2002 and eighth in 2003. He also gained experience
at the world’s fastest quarter-mile oval in the NASKARTS division, earning an
eighth place finish in 1999.
Heading into the 2005 season, Mendenhall has added some people to his team and
hopes to limit the mechanical problems this year.
“We are allowing the crew to get more involved with our Super Truck. Our success
this season depends on how our team gets familiar with one another. The more we
work together, the better chance we have on limiting some of our transmission
problems that hurt us last year.”
In 2005, Mendenhall will continue to drive his familiar No. 2 with primary
sponsorship from Keesling Properties. Associate sponsors will come from
McGrady’s Tree Service and Stanley Thomas Hearing Aid Center.
Mike Mendenhall will make his season debut in the Ed Martin Auto Group Super
Trucks on Saturday, April 2, on opening night for the regular Saturday Night
divisions.
