After recording two consecutive
top-three finishes in the Insight ThunderCar Oval division, Jack Taylor has
elected to move into the Terry’s RV Sales & Service Street Stock division for
the 2004 season. He enters the DT’S R Bar Rookie class for the upcoming 2005
season.
“Competing in the Street Stock division is going to present a lot of challenges
for me during the 2005 season,” said Jack Taylor. “I will have to adapt to a new
setup, bigger engine and try to apply that to a good handling racecar. I’m
excited about this season and have goals of Rookie of the Year honors and
finishing among the top 10 in the final point standings.”
Taylor placed second in the 2004 Insight ThunderCar Oval point standings,
missing the owner championship by a slim margin of 36 points. He collected two
feature victories, one fast time, 13 top-five finishes and 16 top 10s.
The Chesterfield driver began the season on a strong note, posting four top-five
finishes and five top 10s in the opening five events. This early season stretch
included one feature victory and three podium finishes.
On
Friday, June 4, Taylor was credited with 12th-place honors, the final competitor
to complete the 20-lap distance. He then responded with performances of third
and seventh, before enduring a 20th-place finish on June 26.
Returning to the Texas Roadhouse winner’s circle for a second occasion on July
2, Taylor followed up that stellar performance with seven top-five finishes and
eight top 10s during the conclusion of the 2004 season.
Taylor will make special appearances in his Insight ThunderCar in 2005, with
plans of competing in the ThunderCar Enduro on Saturday, July 30. In the Street
Stock division, he will pilot the No. 31 car sponsored by Cooper’s Insurance and
Mike’s Carb.
The season-opening event for the Terry RV Sales & Service Street Stocks is
slated for Saturday, April 2.
