After producing a career
best season in the Legends division,
Elwood’s John Robbins returns in 2005 gunning for the track title at Anderson
Speedway.
“After finishing second in the 2004 point standings, there isn’t much room for
improvement,” said John Robbins. “We are concentrating heavily on our Legend
program at Anderson Speedway this season. Our main goal is to win the
championship and being consistent every week is our main focus. I want to earn
as many fast times as possible and race everybody clean all season long.”
In 2004, Robbins finished second in the final Legend point standings to eventual
champion James Robertson.
Driving the No. 19 with primary sponsorship from Ed Martin Auto Group, Robbins
recorded one feature victory, one fast time, 10 top-five finishes and 15 top
10s. He also scored a post-season victory in the 7th Annual Weidner Chevrolet
Stock Car Festival in October.
“The 2004 season went pretty good. We achieved all of our pre-season goals and
to finish second in the point standings was great. Then to set fast time, win
the heat race and the feature at the Stock Car Festival was an awesome ending to
our season,” added Robbins.
The 30-year-old Robbins competed in his first Legends season in 2003, finishing
second in the rookie standings and 10th in the overall championship standings.
Ed Martin Auto Group returns as the primary sponsor for Robbins in the
Legends division in the upcoming 2005 season. He will
have associate sponsorship from J&D Plating.
The 2005 Legends season begins on Saturday Night,
April 30, making a special appearance with the regular Saturday Night divisions.
