Memorial Day Weekend in Indiana signifies something special. For nearly 100 years the city of
Indianapolis has been steeped in a tradition of speed. This year the Indianapolis 500 will be held at the
famed “Brickyard” for the 99th time. People will gather; drivers will jockey for their chance at sipping
the milk in victory lane at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and TV cameras will be there to catch all the
action.
The same can be said for another event just up the road from the “Circle City.” While the speed is not
the same, the history and intrigue surrounding this smaller track about an hour to the northeast of
Indianapolis will lure drivers from around the nation that same weekend. For the 67th time, the bravest
Sprint Car drivers in the land will attempt to capture the gold in the “Little 500” at Anderson Speedway,
but they will attempt that feat for the first time in front of the live cameras of 51 TV.
Through a partnership between Anderson Speedway and Speed51.com the Pay Less Super Markets Little
500 presented by UAW-GM will be able to be seen through a live online broadcast on 51 TV.
“The Little 500 has evolved into a huge national event,” said Rick Dawson, President of Anderson
Speedway. “In our continuing efforts to improve the show, we’ve partnered with Speed51.com and we
are offering a unique opportunity for fans that can’t make it here to Anderson Speedway to see the
greatest Sprint Car race on pavement. The quality of the production from Speed51.com is very well
suited for this show. We want only the very best for the event and that’s why we’ve partnered with Bob
Dillner and Speed51.com.”
“Even though it’s called the Little 500, this is certainly a big event,” said Speed51.com owner and
veteran Motorsports TV broadcaster, Bob Dillner. “500 laps around a quarter-mile bullring is brutal and
only the toughest will survive. We can’t wait to capture the emotion that this event presents.”
The stars of the Sprint Car world, from both pavement and dirt, are expected to compete in this
prestigious event. Last year’s runner-up, and Chili Bowl preliminary race winner, Jerry Coons Jr. has
already filed his entry. He’s joined by others like Shane Cottle, Shawn Hollingsworth and 2010 NASCAR
Whelen Modified Tour champion, Bobby Santos III.
51 TV will have live coverage of Pole Day on May 21, “Bump Day” on May 22 and all 500 laps on
Saturday, May 23, which is the eve of the Indianapolis 500.
