Inaugural Turkey Bash Closes Out 2013 Racing Season

 (November 27, 2013) - For the first occasion in the storied history of Anderson Speedway racing will take place on Thanksgiving weekend on Saturday, November 30. The Turkey Bash racing program will be headlined by the Street Stocks in a 100-lap feature. Other divisions in action include NASH FM ThunderCars, Front Wheel Drives (Oval & Figure 8’s) and Mini Cups.

Calvin Parham earned the Street Stock championship and also  won two features in 2013. Josh Poore won three main events to lead the division. Jason Atkinson and Dustin Burge were multiple race winners while drivers winning once included Jake McElfresh, A.J. Ridner and Jimmy Kirby.

The NASH FM ThunderCars will compete in their 14th event of the 2013 season. Curtis Chapman was the top performer winning both of the 100-lap features, seven of the 11 main points events and the division title. Other drivers to visit the winner’s circle included Rob Allman on two occasions and single-event wins for Tom Gossar and Trent Gossar.

In the Front Wheel Drives Oval division, Paul Phipps was crowned champion in a close battle through the season with Elliott McKinney. Feature winners this season included Jerry Dane (6), McKinney (3), Phipps (3), Nick Warner (3), Chris Jennings (2) and Marshall Clark Jr. (1). Don Gallaher is the most recent winner taking the 100-lap feature on October 19.

Kevin Henson scored seven feature victories and the championship in the Front Wheel Drive Figure 8 division. Nick Warner collected five checkered flags with individual race wins claimed by Mike Alley, Donnie Ellis Jr. and Elliott McKinney.

The Mini Cups will make their second appearance at the high-banked quarter-mile oval on Saturday afternoon. The first event took place on October 12 with Nathan Bertino winning the main event. He was chased across the line by Jayden Cave and Bryce Whitson.

On Saturday, November 30, spectator gates open at 11 a.m. with the racing beginning at 1. Admission is $12 for adults and $4 for kids ages 6-12. Children five and under get in free.

Bring a new unwrapped toy and receive $3 off ticket as part of Kids Helping Kids, Toys for Tots Toy Drive. Other off-track activities include live music presented by GraphXNow, race cars on display, autograph session with young drivers Corey Deuser, Mark Lambert and Brayden Stamm and more. Event Santa Claus will be in attendance.
