(October 8,
2013) - Anderson Speedway returns
to action on Saturday, October 12 with one
of the crown jewel events on the schedule.
The 64th Annual Tim Thompson Nationwide Insurance
National Crown will feature the IOFS Outlaw
Figure 8’s in a 100-lap feature paying
$3,000 to the winner of the prestigious
event. The racing program will also include
IOFS Compact Figure 8’s, IOFS Super Karts
and Mini Cups.
The IOFS Outlaw Figure 8’s will make their
fourth and final appearance at Anderson
Speedway on Saturday Night. Drivers that
have earned victories this season include
Charlie Hargraves (May 20 and June 14) and
Ben Tunny on July 4th.
Last season marked the first occasion the
National
Crown was run under the IOFS sanction with
Outlaw Figure 8’s. Eddie Van Meter scored
the victory over Mike Riddle Jr. and Chris
Green.
The last five National Crowns have produced
different winners. Saturday night’s event
will include a 100-lap main event to award
the $3,000 check to the winner.
David Reynolds has earned three IOFS Super
Karts wins at Anderson this season. Brad
Kares and Angie Goodin have also won main
events at the quarter-mile oval.
The IOFS Compact Figure 8’s will be featured
in a 15-lap main event. Previous winners
this year include Kevin Henson and Nick
Warner.
A season debut is on tap for the Mini Cups
when they complete in a 25-lap feature.
Come out early to
celebrate Oktoberfest. Bring your pennies to
vote for your favorite chili in the Anderson
Fire Department Chili Cookoff. Bring your
camera to snap photos with the Sam Adams
girls. Test your endurance during the Sam
Adams stein hoisting competition and fill
your stomach with brats, pretzels and draft
beer all while listening to live classic
rock from Three North.
On Saturday, October 12, spectator gates
open at 3 p.m. with racing beginning at 6.
Admission is $12 for adults and $4 for kids
ages 6-12. Children five and under get in
free.
