2013) - Anderson Speedway returns
to action on Saturday, August 3 with Murat
Shrine Night showcasing five divisions on the
high-banked quarter-mile oval. Racing action
will include Street Stocks, WMDH
ThunderCars, Front Wheel Drives Oval and
Figure 8’s and Thunder Roadsters.
Josh Poore is the most recent Street Stock
feature winner taking the checkered flag on
July 27. That victory marked the third for
Poore this year in thee appearances. Other
drivers to collect wins include A.J Ridner,
Jason Atkinson, Dustin Burge and Calvin
Parham. In the point standings, Calvin
Parham has a 25 point lead over Tyler Marsh
with Danny Adams in third position.
In the WMDH ThunderCars, Curtis Chapman
collected his sixth feature win this season.
He opened the season with five consecutive
victories before Rob Allman won the feature
on July 13. In the season standings, Chapman
leads Trent Gossar by 55 points. Rob Allman
ranks third with Tom Gossar and Austin
Russell completing the top five.
Elliott McKinney continues to pace the Front
Wheel Drives Oval division with a 21 point
margin over Paul Phipps. Six-time race
winner Jerry Dane is third with Jesse Thomas
and Dylan Hoppes rounding out the top five.
In the Front Wheel Drive Figure 8’s, a fifth
feature victory in the most recent race
extended Kevin Henson’s points lead to 31
markers over Elliott McKinney. The remainder
of the top five includes Jamie Valentine,
Mark Allman and Brian McKinney.
Martin Griffin is looking for his third
consecutive victory in the Thunder
Roadsters. He won the feature events on May
11 and July 6. James Edsell is the other
driver to visit the winner’s circle, taking
the checkered flag on March 30.
On Saturday, August 3, spectator gates open
at 5 p.m. with the racing beginning at 8.
Admission is $12 for adults and $4 for kids
ages 6-12. Children five and under get in
free.
