(July
29,
2013) - With five drivers locked in
a tight battle for the Street Stock win at
Anderson Speedway, it was Josh Poore that
used the outside line to score the win.
Poore is a perfect three
for three at Anderson Speedway this season
winning the CRA Street Stock 200 to begin
his winning ways.
For the first five laps
of the feature event, first-time speedway
competitor Brandon Mefford and defending
champion Jimmy Kirby ran side by side with
Calvin Parham and Poore running in tandem
behind the front runners.
Kirby claimed the point
from Mefford with an inside pass on the
front
straight with Mefford showing there was a
second groove on the track.
Poore got inside of
Mefford on lap seven coming off the fourth
corner and just two laps later Parham’s
night was finished with a flat left front
tire. That allowed Tyler Marsh to move to
the fourth spot.
For the next 10 circuits
Poore tried to get inside of Mefford for the
lead, who wouldn’t give up the preferred
racing line. Finally on lap 18
Poore went to the outside of Mefford to take
the point.
Kirby also slipped
inside of Mefford as the two drivers’
encountered
slower traffic. Mefford returned the favor
on lap 23 with an outside move on Kirby
entering turn three.
The final pass of the
race came on lap 27 when Jacob McElfresh
went to the outside in turn three to get
around Andrew Cook, who had run most of the
race in the fifth position.
Poore went on to win by
1.5-seconds over Mefford with Kirby, Tyler
Marsh and McElfresh rounding out the top
five.
“Jimmy (Kirby) gave me
some room on the outside,” Poore said of the
clean racing throughout the feature. “I’ve
watched drivers use the outside line to make
passes here; that’s the way you’re supposed
to do it.”
Marsh scored the win in
the first of two heat races leading the
entire
distance, but behind him it was Kirby and
Poore on the move.
Kirby was running fourth
at the start when on consecutive laps he
passed Mefford on the front straight and
Mason Keller in turn four. Poore passed
Mefford on lap four entering turn one to
move into the third spot and on lap nine
went to the outside to pass Kirby on the
front straight.
Joe Pulley led the
entire distance in the second heat race to
claim his
first victory of the year at Anderson
Speedway.
Danny Adams passed Ed
Martin, making his first start at the track,
on lap five entering turn three to finish
second.
