Chapman Streak Ends as Allman Scores WMDH ThunderCar Victory

(July 15, 2013) - Curtis Chapman’s win streak in the WMDH ThunderCars ended at five victories after making contact with the turn three wall with some assistance from Tom Gossar.

With the fastest four driver’s from qualifying inverted for the start of
the feature on Poet Biorefining Night at Anderson Speedway, Rob Allman jumped into the lead.

Allman was chased by Trent Gossar, Tom Gossar, Chapman and Jeff Hopkins when the races first caution flag waved on the fourth lap when Danny Stanley Jr. made contact with the turn four outside retaining wall.

On the restart Allman maintained the lead, but the action took place when Tom Gossar went high entering turn three and forced Chapman to make heavy contact with the outside retaining wall. Chapman’s streak of five feature wins to start the season came to an end as he was towed to the pit area.

Chapman has beaten both members of the Gossar father and son team with late race passes to win the past two features. There has been a history of contact among the three drivers from the start of the season.

Allman was closely chased by Trent Gossar until the final five circuits
when he pulled away to win by a half-second. Tom Gossar finished third
followed by Hopkins and Craig Sutherland.

Allman scored his first heat win of the year earlier in the night, a race
in which Chapman spun on the second lap in turn one and collected the car of Tom Gossar.

Trent Gossar took the lead from Allman on lap three on the restart with an outside move on the front straight, but two laps later Allman retook the lead with an inside pass on the front straight.

Trent Gossar finished second followed by Hopkins, Ryan Archer and Nick Lewis.
