(July
15,
2013) - Although Kevin Henson has
put together an outstanding season in the
Front Wheel Drive Figure-8 Division, he had
only swept the competition once in 2013.
Henson set fast time,
won a heat race and the feature way back on
April 6 on the opening night of the season.
During Poet Biorefining Night at
Anderson Speedway, Henson repeated the feat.
Henson jumped into the
lead at the start of the feature race chased
by
teammate Elliot McKinney and Brian McKinney.
On the second lap
Elliott McKinney pulled out of competition
which allowed Henson to power away from his
remaining competitors.
On lap five Mark Allman
and Randy Hoppes took advantage of a slip by
Brian McKinney coming off the second corner
to claim the second and third positions.
McKinney finished fourth with Jerry Swinford
coming home in fifth.
Henson led the entire
distance to win the heat race with Elliott
McKinney
passing Brian on the second lap coming off
turn two.
Elliott McKinney parked
his ride with two laps remaining. Henson was
followed to the checkers by Brian McKinney.
During qualifications
Henson turned a lap at 20.696-seconds to top
the
speed chart followed by Elliott McKinney at
20.738-seconds.
For Henson it was his
fourth quick time of the year, third heat
victory
and fifth feature win in 2013.
