(June
8,
2013) - Nick Warner recorded his
first Front Wheel Drive feature win in
Figure-8 action at Anderson Speedway in a
race that had plenty of twists and turns.
Kevin Henson, looking for his third feature
win of the season, grabbed the early lead
pulling away from the rest of the field.
With Henson solidly in front, Elliott
McKinney, Warner, Donnie Ellis Jr. and Brian
McKinney were battling for the second spot.
Unexpectedly on lap seven, Henson exited the
track in turn one. When the caution flag
failed to appear, he was never able to get
back into competition.
Henson said he was forced to make a decision
of exiting the track or making contact with
the turn one water barrels.
That gave Elliott McKinney the lead, but he
pulled out of competition on lap 12, which
put Warner into the lead.
Ellis was bumped by the car of Trevin Henson
on lap 10 and retired with a suspension
problem.
Warner went on to win by one lap over Jesse
Thomas, Jamie Valentine, JD Blankenship and
Brian McKinney.
Kevin Henson recorded his first heat race
victory of the year climbing from the third
position to the top spot over the course of
five laps.
He first used an inside move to get around
Brian McKinney in turn two. After McKinney
got the lead from Mark Allman, Henson used
an outside move to take the lead coming off
the fourth corner.
Elliott McKinney finished second, followed
by Ellis, Allman and Warner.
