(May

2013) - Frankton veteran John
Robbins probably didn’t think he was going
to leave Anderson Speedway on Saturday with
a victory, but he was in the right place at
the right time.
Robbins, who set fast time during
qualifications, grabbed the lead at the
start of the feature chased by Aaron Holden
and Josh Dietz in a tight pack. Behind them
Eric Black and Cody Anderson were battling
for the fourth position.
Holden got inside of Robbins for the lead on
lap 17 on the back straight and a lap later
Dietz used a similar move on the front
straight to move into the second spot.
For the next 11 laps Holden and Dietz ran
nose to tail in a fight for the point. On
the 29th lap, Dietz got into the rear bumper
of Holden causing him to spin exiting turn
four.
With Holden and Dietz sent to the tail of
the field that gave Robbins the lead for a
green-white-checker finish.
Robbins scored his second feature win of the
year besting Black by less than a
half-second with Anderson coming home third
followed by Holden and Dietz.
In the heat race, Black took the early lead
but on the third circuit both Holden and
Robbins got past on the back straight.
Two laps later Black slipped in turn two and
lost two additional spots to Dietz and
Anderson.
Although Robbins remained in close contact
with Holden’s rear bumper he was unable to
get the lead, coming up just .099-seconds
short. Dietz, Anderson and Black rounded out
the top five.
