(May
8,
2013) - Anderson Speedway returns
to racing action on Saturday, May 11 with
the season debut of the Top Speed
Fabrication CRA Late Model Sportsman Series
powered by JEGS. The racing lineup will also
feature Front Wheel Drives Oval, Legends and
Thunder Roadsters.
The CRA Late Model Sportsman will compete in
the first of our events at Anderson during
the 2013 season. Last year, feature
victories were captured by Jason Atkinson
(May, June) along with Ronnie Rose and Keith
Sterkowitz. At the season-opening event at
Lucas Oil Raceway Park for CRA Late Model
Sportsman, Atkinson finished ahead of Mark
Lambert and Greg Van Alst.
The Anderson Speedway
McGunegill Engine Performance Late Models
have had two events so far this season.
Sterkowitz and Danny Trent have visited the
winner’s circle. Sterkowitz leads the points
over Jeff Marcum with Rob Allman, Ronnie
Rose and Jeff Williams completing the top
five.
Andy Jones won the opener for the Legends in
their lone event to date. Rain showers
forced the postponement of the second
feature on April 27. The Legends will be
showcased in a 25-lap main event on Saturday
night.
The Thunder Roadsters will do battle for the
second occasion this season at the
quarter-mile oval. James Edsell captured the
feature victory in March over Marty Griffin
and Doug Dugger.
In the Front Wheel Drive Figure 8 standings,
Kevin Henson holds an 11 point margin over
Elliott McKinney. The remainder of the top
five includes Mark Alma, Jerry Swinford and
Jamie Valentine.
On Saturday, May 11, spectator gates open at
5 p.m. with the racing beginning at 8.
Admission is $12 for adults and $4 for kids
ages 6-12. Children five and under get in
free.
Prior to the racing
action, the Sanders Strong Racer's Auction
will take place at 1:30 PM. Come and show
your support to a local family in need! They
not only lost a father & husband, but lost
the life they knew.
