Big Double Header Weekend Planned on Saturday and Sunday
Huge Fireworks Show Caps off 65th Anniversary Party on Sunday

Anderson Speedway returns to racing action with a big doubleheader
scheduled for Saturday, September 15 and Sunday, September 16. The action
kicks off on Saturday with AERCO Heating & Cooling Night at the Races. The
CRA Street Stocks make their final appearance of the 2012 racing season.
They will be joined by WMDH ThunderCars, G.W. Pierce Front Wheel Drives
Oval, Legends and Thunder Roadsters.
On Sunday, the Culver's Extravaganza / Anderson Speedway’s 65th Anniversary
Party presented by MAX 93.5/96.7 FM will take place. The racing program will
feature IOFS Outlaw Figure 8's, IOFS Super Karts, G.W. Pierce Front Wheel
Drives Oval & Figure 8's, Spectator Races, Culver's Trailer Race plus a Huge
Fireworks Show.
Saturday night’s event will be the 23rd CRA Street Stock event held on the
high-banked quarter-mile oval, with most recent winner Josh Poore sitting
atop the victory charts with a total of 4. Ronnie Rose and Rich Boyer are
tied with three victories apiece.
In the season point standings, Tyler Marsh holds a slim five point lead over
Brian Hopkins. Current EDCO Welding Street Stock point leader Jimmy Kirby
ranks in third position with J.J. Schaffer and Jason Drummond completing the
top five.
A close battle continues in the WMDH ThunderCars. Hannah Lundy and Rob
Allman are in the midst of the tightest points margin among the two
championship contenders. Allman picked up his third feature victory of the
season while Lundy earned an impressive ninth fast time in the most recent
outing. Other strong season performances have been produced by Earl Adams
lll, Pam Neal and Sammy Hawkins.
Ron Phipps sits atop the G.W. Pierce Front Wheel Drive Oval point standings
with a 206 point advantage over Paul Phipps. The remainder of the top five
includes Trevin Henson, Marshall Clark Jr. and Jerry Dane.
The Thunder Roadsters will compete in their ninth event at Anderson
Speedway. Drivers to earn victories include Chris Weddle (4), David Lobbia,
Nate Shrout, Larry Fritz and James Edsall.
Making their final appearance of the season, the Legends will do battle in a
25-lap main event. Jack Dossey Jr. and David Moyes lll have both earned two
victories with John Robbins scoring a single victory.
On Saturday, September 15, spectator gates open at 5 p.m. with the racing
beginning at 8. Admission is $12 for adults and $4 for kids ages 6-12.

The IOFS Outlaw Figure 8’s will compete in their seventh event at Anderson
Speedway during the 2012 racing season on Sunday evening. Drivers that have
scored feature victories at Anderson this season include Charlie Hargraves
(March), Jonny Hargraves (April), Eddie Van Meter (May, July 4th and July
15th (BestWay Disposal National Crown) and Jonny Hargraves (June).
The IOFS Super Karts make a third appearance at the quarter-mile oval. Ben
Smith scored the victory in April with Ryan Cherry taking top honors in
July.
In the G.W. Pierce Front Wheel Drives Figure 8’s, Mike Alley’s lead shrank
to 96 markers after Donnie Ellis Jr. notched his fourth feature victory on
August 18. Third is Kevin Henson with Harry Lashure ranked in fourth spot.
Exciting racing events will also be showcased by the G.W. Pierce Front Wheel
Drive Oval division, Culver’s Trailer Race and Spectator Races.
On Sunday, September 16, spectator gates open at 3 p.m. with the racing
beginning at 6. Admission is $12 for adults and $4 for kids ages 6-12.
