Gold & Coin Night at the Races
Slated for Saturday Night

(September 5, 2012) – Racing action returns to Anderson Speedway on Saturday, September 8 with the Gold & Coin Night at the Races featuring the Top Speed Fabrication CRA Late Model Sportsman. The WMDH ThunderCars and G.W. Pierce Front Wheel Drive Figure 8 division will also be in action on the quarter-mile oval. Before the racing action takes center stage, future stars of Anderson Speedway will be featured in the kids bike races.

Jason Atkinson comes into Sunday’s event as the current point’s leader with the Top Speed Fabrication CRA Late Model Sportsman Series, with a series leading three wins so far this season, two of those have been at Anderson, including the series last event on August 11.

Atkinson has a 10 point lead over second place K.C. Spillers, who has consistently ran in the top five all season. Bob Sibila Jr. is in third place, only one point behind Spillers. Sibila Jr. got a series win at Winchester on July 15th. Tommy Cook, who has two series victories so far this season, ranks in fourth position. Brian McFadden is currently fifth in series points. The top five are separated by only 32 points coming into this weekend’s event.

In the series last event Atkinson steadily worked his way through the field from his 10th place starting position to grab the lead from McFadden on a lap 48 restart. McFadden finished in second, his all-time best finish with the series. Josh Cove finished in third place, also his all-time best series finish. Dean Cook came in fourth with Tommy Cook in fifth.

The close points battle in the WMDH ThunderCars will continue this weekend. Hannah Lundy currently leads Rob Allman by 16 markers. Both drivers have scored two victories and produced nine top-10 finishes. Earl Adams Jr. ranks third with Pam Neal and Sammy Hawkins rounding out the top five.

In the G.W. Pierce Front Wheel Drives Figure 8’s, Mike Alley’s lead shrank to 96 markers after Donnie Ellis Jr. notched his fourth feature victory on August 18. Third is Kevin Henson with Harry Lashure ranked in fourth spot.

On Saturday, September 8, spectator gates open at 5 p.m. with the racing beginning at 8. Admission is $12 for adults and $4 for kids ages 6-12. Children five and under get in free.
