Culver's Labor Day Extravaganza Set for Saturday Night

(August 29, 2012) – Anderson Speedway returns to racing action on Saturday, September 1 with the Culver’s Labor Day Extravaganza presented by MAX 93.5/96.7. Featured divisions include IOFS Outlaw Figure 8's, Super Karts, G.W. Pierce Front Wheel Drives Oval & Figure 8's, Spectator Races, Cork Screw Race and Culver's Trailer Race.

The IOFS Outlaw Figure 8’s will compete in their seventh event at Anderson Speedway during the 2012 racing season. Drivers that have scored feature victories at Anderson this season include Charlie Hargraves (March), Jonny Hargraves (April), Eddie Van Meter (May, July 4th and July 15th (BestWay Disposal National Crown) and Jonny Hargraves (June).

The IOFS Super Karts make a third appearance at the quarter-mile oval. Ben Smith scored the victory in April with Ryan Cherry taking top honors in July.

Ron Phipps sits atop the G.W. Pierce Front Wheel Drive Oval point standings with a 206 point advantage over Paul Phipps. The remainder of the top five includes Trevin Henson, Marshall Clark Jr. and Jerry Dane.

In the G.W. Pierce Front Wheel Drives Figure 8’s, Mike Alley’s lead shrank to 96 markers after Donnie Ellis Jr. notched his fourth feature victory on August 18. Third is Kevin Henson with Harry Lashure ranked in fourth spot.

Exciting racing events will also be showcased by the Culver’s Trailer Race, Cork Screw Race and Spectator Races.

On Saturday, September 1, spectator gates open at 5 p.m. with the racing beginning at 8. Admission is $12 for adults and $4 for kids ages 6-12. Children five and under get in free.
