Moyes Continues Winning Ways; Dossey Jr. Gets Heat Win
By Ken de la Bastide
(June
26, 2012) – Tennessee driver David Moyes III didn’t waste any
time getting to the lead in the Legends feature, diving inside of early
leader Aaron Holden coming off the back straight on the fourth circuit to
record his fifth consecutive victory at Anderson Speedway.
Moyes won four times at the local racing plant in 2011 and continued his
winning ways on his first visit of 2012. He not only won the feature race
but set fast time during qualifications and captured a heat race victory.
There were 19 Legend drivers on hand for the Series first visit to Anderson
Speedway since March.
Brandon DeBrakeleer took the early lead after the fastest four qualifiers
were inverted. That lead lasted one lap as Holden used a power move down the
back straight to take the lead. Moyse got around DeBrakeleer on the front
straight and set his sights on Holden.
On the fourth lap Moyes took the lead from Holden and opened up a
comfortable lead, that faded in the late stages of the race.
Jack Dossey Jr. moved around Holden for the second spot with ten laps
remaining, closing the gap on Moyes. At the checkers, Moyes won by less than
a second over Dossey Jr.
Holden recorded a third place finish with DeBrakeleer and Eric Black
rounding out the top five.
In the first heat race Moyes led the entire distance to win by almost
two-seconds over Holden with Black, Heath Tatman and Tom Elliott rounding
out the top five.
The second heat race was delayed on the opening lap when Jack Dossey III and
Mike Carroll got together in turn four and collected the ride of Brandon
Fuller. Fuller and Carroll were unable to continue.
On the restart Dossey Jr. grabbed the top spot followed by DeBrakleer, Chris
Hacker, Gerad Miller and Dossey III.’
Dossey III was able to get inside of Miller on the front straight on the
seventh lap to finish fourth.
