2nd Annual Willies Race Added to Late Model Weekend
MEP Late Models to Race for $4,600 to Win on July 20th
(June19, 2012) – Anderson
Speedway officials have announced the addition of the McGunegill Engine
Performance Late Models to the Late Model Weekend slated for Friday, July 20
and Saturday, July 21.
The MEP Late Models join the JEGS/CRA All Star Tour on July 20 with the
ARCA/CRA Series Late Models capping off the weekend in the Stoops
Freightliner Redbud 300 on Saturday, July 21.
The 2nd Annual Willies Race featuring the MEP Late Models will pay $4,600 to
the winner. The top 15 teams in Anderson Speedway points are guaranteed a
starting spot in the 100-lap event.
Willies Race honors fallen racer William Mefford who was fatally injured
during racing action in May of 2011.
The JEGS/CRA All Star Tour will make their second appearance at the
high-banked quarter-mile oval. Last July, Trent Snyder won the inaugural
event over Brandon Watson with Derrick Griffin. North Carolina rising star
Daniel Hemric has scored third victories this season to lead the series over
former Anderson Speedway Legends standout Brent Downey.
Since the resurgence of the Late Model crown jewel event in 2009, the Stoops
Freightliner Redbud 300 at Anderson Speedway has been one of the most
exciting events on the ARCA/CRA Super Series tour. Last year, Florida’s Steve Dorer earned a thrilling victory with a last lap pass on Chase Elliott.
Two-day advance adult tickets are available for $30. On Raceday, tickets are
$15 for the Friday, July 20 program featuring the MEP Late Models, JEGS/CRA
All Stars and Thunder Roadsters. Single-day Stoops Freightliner Redbud 300
tickets are $25. Tickets for kids 6-12 are $4 on Friday and Saturday with
children 5 and under admitted free.
