Ellis Gets Two FWD Figure 8 Wins
(July
30, 2011) – It was a good night for Donnie Ellis Jr. as he recorded
victories in the feature and heat races for the Front Wheel Drive Figure-8
division at Anderson Speedway on Saturday.
Ellis took the lead at the start of the feature and was chased in the early
stages of the race by Herald Bulletin fast qualifier Chris Teepe.
Teepe could stay close to Ellis, but dramatically slowed on lap five and
smoke began appearing from the back of his car.
On the seventh circuit Kevin Henson got inside of James Frawley on the front
straight to claim the second spot, but finished 2-seconds behind Ellis.
Frawley finished third followed by Teepe and Elliott McKinney.
In the heat race, Ellis made a nifty move on the first corner of the start
of the race splitting McKinney and Frawley to move from the second road to
take the point.
From there Ellis was chased by Teepe, who finished .4-seconds behind. The
top five were rounded out by McKinney, Frawley and Kevin Henson.
Teepe set quick time with a lap of 20.905-second followed by Kevin Henson
and Ellis.
