John Van Doorn Aiming to Extend Historic CRA Streak
(April

Two-time defending CRA Super Series Champion John Van
Doorn will return to Anderson Speedway on Saturday, April 16 for the CRA
Super Series season opening

Van Doorn will attempt to extend his winning streak in the openers held at
Anderson to three consecutive victories. He is the only driver in CRA
history to win back to back season opening events at the high-banked
quarter-mile oval.
“Anderson has been really good to me,” said John Van Doorn. “I have won
three races there including my first career victory in the Budweiser 250 in
2007. Winning two consecutive openers was cool to make it three would be
awesome.”
Van Doorn led an impressive 156 of 250 laps in the previous two April events
held at Anderson in 2009 and 2010.
The Coopersville, Mich. native has amassed an impressive record with CRA at
Anderson in eight career starts with recording three for mentioned
victories, four top-five finishes and eight top 10s. His lowest finish is a
ninth place in last year’s Welch & Wilson Motorsports Redbud 300. In that
event he was battling for the win until a last lap spin dropped him in the
final rundown.
“Since my first victory in 2007 a lot of things have changed on the cars
with the technology. You have to constantly make improvements with your car
or you will be left behind. We always unload with a different package on the
car.”
Anderson Speedway will host the CRA Super Series on two occasions again in
2011 with the series opener on April 16 and the SealWrap Redbud 300 slated
for Monday, August 1.
“Anderson is a fun place to race and you have to be on your game as you are
always around other cars. I’m hoping we can have another great run as
Anderson always sets the tone for the season.”
To support his quest in 2011, JVD and Co. are appreciative to have the
support of Baker Engineering, Earth Service and Supply, Jegs.com, Magic
Transportation, Paragon Corvette Reproductions, Port City Racecars and R and
R Wire Loom as sponsors on their Chevrolet.
In 64 races with the CRA Super Series, Van Doorn has posted six poles, eight
wins, 25 top-fives and 47 top-10 finishes including back-to-back CRA
championships in 2009 and 2010.
