Mother Nature Forces Postponement of Weekend Activities; Reset for April
29th
(March
22, 2011) –
The forecast for blustery conditions and
precipitation this weekend has forced Anderson Speedway officials to
postpone this Saturday’s races featuring the Enduro 200. All weather
stations and websites have predicted temperatures to fall throughout the
40’s all day Saturday with high winds and a likely chance of rain. Frigid
nighttime temperatures will make it difficult for fans and competitors to
endure. The practice set for Friday night has also been postponed.
“This is one of our big events of the season and I want the fans and
competitors to be treated to the best possible conditions for it”, said Rick
Dawson, President of Anderson Speedway. “We have a long season with many
better weather days coming, consequently, I think postponing this event to a
later date is in everyone’s best interest. This winter has been especially
cold and wet and I’m not sure I am convinced yet that Global Warming is an
issue, at least for Anderson Indiana”.
The entire event has been rescheduled for Friday, April 29th. The event will
include the Enduro 200 for ThunderCars, Legends and Thunder Roadsters.
“Adding this event to this date will be a special treat for the fans” said
Dawson, “This will be a big weekend at the Speedway with the Enduro 200 on
Friday followed by a big Night of Thrills on Saturday, April 30th.”
Racing resumes on Saturday, April 2nd and Sunday April 3rd with the first
appearance of the new Anderson Late Model division, Figure 8's, Front Wheel
Drive oval and the WMDH ThunderCars on Saturday night.
The USAC Sprints and Kenyon Midgets will headline racing action on Sunday,
April 3rd.. Gates will open at 3:30 with racing beginning at 7 on Saturday,
April 2nd with gates opening at 11:30 on Sunday, April 3rd and racing at
2:00..
