Warner Dominates Figure-8 Action; Morris Gets Front Wheel Drive Victory
Nick Warner continued his dominance of the
Front Wheel Drive division on the Figure-8 course setting fast time and winning
both the heat and feature events on WMDH Family Night at Anderson Speedway.
Donnie Ellis Jr. took the early lead in the feature event chased by Warner and
Elliott McKinney. McKinney hit the turn three wall on the third lap and was
forced to the pits, losing two laps in the process.
With Warner pressing Ellis the two ran nose to tail for the top spot when the
caution flag waved on lap four when Blake Zirkle made contact with the turn one
wall. Ellis took the opportunity to head to the pits, which gave Warner the
point.
Ellis rejoined the field at the tail and was able to regain several positions
before the finish.
At the checkers it was Warner recording his fifth feature win of 2010 by
6.2-seconds over Keith Morris followed by Kevin Henson, Ellis and Trevon Henson.
In the first heat race Warner took the lead at the start chased closely by Ellis
and Andy Keller. Ellis slowed on lap three. At the checkers it was Warner, Jared
Keller, Andy Keller, Zirkle and Bobby Bair.
Kevin Henson grabbed the point in the second heat race, but was black-flagged on
the fifth lap for running three consecutive laps at a time faster than he
qualified.
That gave the lead to Morris who went on to his first
victory of the year followed by McKinney, Harry LaShure, Jeff Hopkins and
Henson.
