Moore makes it a double
A
good night for Indianapolis driver Nick Moore got
even better with the recording of his first feature win in the Street Stock
division at Anderson Speedway.
As a result of half the field being inverted for the
feature race, Moore started from the outside of the front row and beat Tyler
Marsh to take the early lead. That pair was chased by Josh Poore, Jeff Perry and
Rob Allman.
On lap three Poore made an inside move on the front
straight to claim the second spot from Marsh. Before the end of the lap fast
qualifier Jeff Lane spun in turn three.
Allman and Rick Boyer both used the high groove on the
restart to get around Marsh to take the fourth and fifth spots.
Perry and Allman staged a tight battle for the third spot
from lap 30 through 32 with the two drivers swapping the position on each
subsequent lap. That tight battle came to an end when Derrick Layne spin on the
back straight.
Two laps later Layne brushed the front straight wall and
came to rest on the infield grass.
Moore got the jump on the final restart to win by .668
seconds over Poore with Perry, Allman and Boyer rounding out the top five.
It was the first feature win for Moore, who also lead all
the laps in the first of two heat races to score his first win of 2010.
With Moore in the lead Boyer moved inside of Perry on the
fourth lap and Allman slipped inside Poore. Boyer passed Marsh on the final lap
down the back stretch to grab the fourth position.
Moore beat Allman to the checkers by .162 seconds with
Poore coming home third followed by Boyer and Perry.
Randy Hoppes led the entire distance to his first heat win
of the season pulling away from Billy VanMeter and Layne.
