Wyman Holds Off Warner; Folsom, Lundy Heat Winners
Experience
paid off for Rob Wyman Sr. as he took advantage of lapped cars to hold off Nick
Warner to record the feature win in the WMDH Thunder Car division.
Wyman, who set fast time during qualifications, jumped
into the lead at the start of the feature with Warner running a close second.
Halfway through the feature smoke was evident from Wyman's
car and he visibly slowed on the track. Warner was looking high and low in an
attempt to make the pass for the lead.
At the two leaders encountered slower cars, Wyman used
them as a pick to keep Warner at bay to win by .258 seconds. Rod Phipps finished
third passing Sam Folsom and Rodney Milliner on laps eight and 11 to record a
podium finish.
"We dropped a cylinder," Wyman said. "I did what I had to,
Nick (Warner) did what he had to. I know I was holding him up."
Warner said Wyman took advantage of the lapped cars and he
wasn't going to spin him our for the win.
Anderson's Sam Folsom recorded his second heat win of the
season by leading the entire distance in the opening event for the division with
Warner and Wyman rounding out the top three.
In the second heat Hannah Lundy and Rodney Milliner both
turned in spirited performance to claim the two two spots. Earl Adams II came
home in third. It was Lundy's third heat win of the year.
Shawn Cullen lost an engine during practice and was unable
to compete for the remainder of the racing card.
