Lane Wins at Mt. Lawn
Knightstown driver Jeff Lane turned things up a
notch halfway through the Champion Racing Association Street Stock feature
Sunday and powered to the victory.
The CRA Street Stocks were in action at Mt. Lawn Speedway with their biggest
event of the year next Saturday at Anderson Speedway for the EDCO Welding and
Hydraulics Service 300.
As a result of the inversion following qualifying Lane started in the six row
for the feature and was running fifth after 24 laps following the first caution
period when Jeff Albright came to rest against the
front straight wall.
Following the restart Lane first passed Jason Thompson with an outside pass
coming off the short turn, two laps later made an inside pass of Ronnie Rose and
a lap later moved into second with
a pass of Steve Christman.
Lane closed on leader Rick Erwin and when the two made contact in turn three,
Erwin spun and Lane grabbed the top spot.
Anderson's Ronnie Rose pulled out of competition on lap 31 while running fourth.
Thompson moved into second with ten laps remaining but was unable to challenge
Lane for the lead.
Joe Beaver, subbing for an injured Rich Boyer came home third followed by
Christman and Nick Moore.
Point's leader Scott Neal jumped into Josh Poore's car for the feature and was
running sixth after starting on the tail of the 20-car field on lap 37 when
mechanical woes forced him to the sidelines.
Many of the same teams will be competing in the EDCO Welding and Hydraulics
Service 300 this coming Saturday. A good field of cars is expected for the
event.
There will be a break after 150-laps. Also on the racing card is the WMDH
Thunder Cars. Gates open at 5 p.m. with racing action beginning at 8 p.m.
Boyer won the CRA Street Stock feature at Anderson
Speedway earlier this year.
