CRA Street Stocks Invade Anderson on Saturday

Speedway returns to racing action this weekend with the CRA Street Stocks making
their initial season appearance at the world’s fastest quarter mile oval. The
Figure 8’s and Front Wheel Drive Oval divisions will also be part of the racing
lineup.
The CRA Street Stocks will be showcased in a 75-lap feature event that will
include the CRA regulars along with many of the drivers that compete at Anderson
Speedway on a regular basis. This event will be the second event of the CRA
Street Stocks season. The season opener took place on April 10 at Plymouth
Speedway. A total of 31 drivers competed at the Northern Indiana track. Illinois
racer Josh Nelms grabbed the winning hardware finishing ahead of Scott Neal and
Bret Miles Jr.
In the early part of the Street Stock season at Anderson, the division has
proved to be very competitive with three winners in three events. Josh Myers
earned the season opening victory with Derrick Layne and Rich Boyer claiming the
previous two feature wins.
Rod Phipps has started the Figure 8 season with two consecutive victories and
fourth place finish last weekend. Former division champion Curtis Chapman has
turned in consistent finishes with three top-five finishes including two
consecutive runner-up performances. Other drivers that are in contention include
Jeff Swinford, Dale Phillips and Bruce McFall.
In the Front Wheel Drive Oval division, Kevin Harmon has notched two consecutive
wins and looks to continue his strong runs this weekend. Chris Teepe has
recorded a single victory and three top-five finishes. Other competitors that
have begun the season on a solid note include Gary Bragg Jr., Gary Bragg Sr. and
Frank Gasho.
Spectator gates open at 5 p.m. on Saturday with racing beginning at 8. Admission
is $10 for adults and $4 for kids ages 6-12. Children five and under get in
free.
