IOFS to Debut Front Wheel Drive Figure 8's on September 5
International Outlaw Figure 8 Series (IOFS) and Anderson Speedway officials have
announced that the sanctioning body of Outlaw Late Model Figure 8's will debut a
new Front Wheel Drive Figure 8 division.
The first event will be a special non-points event scheduled for September 5,
2009 at Anderson Speedway as part
of the popular Night Of Thrills event. This program will also feature the IOFS
Outlaw Figure 8 division.
Rules for the new FWD Figure 8 series will be the same as the 2009 Anderson
Speedway FWD Figure 8 division rules with the exceptionthat wings will be
allowed for these events. The purse for these events will also be the same as
the 2009 Anderson Speedway FWD Figure 8 division.
IOFS Managing Partner David Sink expressed excitement with this announcement.
“We have been wanting to do this for a while now but we have just been so busy
with our Late Model Series" explained Sink. “We suggested the idea to
AndersonSpeedway owner, Rick Dawson, and he was equally as excited. Rick
(Dawson) likes to try new and exciting things so it was no surprise to us that
he would be behind this idea. If you look at the Anderson Speedway schedule, it
is full of uniquely different and new motorsports events ranging from the
Anderson Midget Classic to the Street Stock 300. So, I think this event will fit
nicely with what they like to do" concluded Sink.
Series Director, Charlie Hargraves, also gave high praise to the September 5
event. “We need a feeder system to develop
drivers for our Late Model division and this will be perfect. We will see how
this experiment goes and then try and build on it
with a possible 10 race schedule in place for 2010" stated Hargraves." Hopefully
several of the guys will take advantage of the rules and deck their cars out
with wings".
Front Wheel Drive Figure 8's have been a regular part of Anderson Speedway since
2005 but this will mark the first time wings have been utilized with these cars.
Drivers from all over the state of Indiana are expected for this first-ever
event.
