Six Divisions Showcased on Saturday
Anderson
Speedway returns to racing action on Saturday, May 30 with six divisions
competing on the world’s fastest quarter-mile oval. Featured divisions include
the CRA Street Stocks in a 75-lap event along with ImmediaDent Figure 8’s,
ThunderCars, Front Wheel Drives Oval, Legends and Thunder Roadsters.
In the early portion of the CRA Street Stock season, Anderson’s Josh Burton sits
atop the point standings with New Castle’s Brian Hopkins listed in the second
position. Other top performers include Jason Thompson, Larry Matillio and Bret
Miles Jr. The drivers from the Anderson Speedway Street Stock division are also
expected to be part of this 75-lap event. Muncie’s Bret Miles holds first
position in the points with Rich Boyer, Rob Allman, Randy Hoppes and Sulphur
Spring’s Kyle Flynn close behind.
In the ImmediaDent Figure 8’s, former division champion Mike Riddle Jr.
continues to lead the point standings. Other drivers that have started off the
2009 season with strong results include Rickie Tharp, former division champion
Jeff Swinford, Bruce McFall and Ronnie Phipps.
Rod Phipps and Rob Allman continue to battle for the ThunderCar point standings.
Both title contenders have visited the winner’s circle on multiple occasions.
Drivers that are looking to continue to move up in the point standings include
Terry Malone Jr., Lonnie Burton and Robbie Wyman.
In the Front Wheel Drives Oval division, Jeff Saxon paces the division in the
early stages with Andy Keller and defending division champion Kevin Harmon in
third position. The remainder of the top five includes Ron Phipps and Ray Zirkle.
The Legends and Thunder Roadsters will make their season debuts at Anderson
Speedway on Saturday night.
On Saturday Night, spectator gates open at 5 p.m. with the first race taking the
green flag at 8. Admission is $10 for adults and $4 for kids ages 6-12. Children
five and under get in free.
