Three Nights of Racing
Set for Labor Day Weekend
Anderson
Speedway returns to action on Friday, August 29, with the Newco Metals Labor Day
Weekend of racing showcasing Newco Metals Legends, ThunderCars and Quick Auto
Front Wheel Drives in Amateur and Figure 8 action.
On Saturday, August 30, the Grant Fritz / Greg Dietzen Memorial will take place
featuring the Newco Metals Legends. The Ed Martin Chevrolet SuperTrucks and
ImmediaDent Figure 8’s will also be in action.
The
weekend will conclude on Sunday, August 31 with the Night of Thrills. Featured
events include School Bus Figure 8’s, Roll Over Contest, Cork Screw Race, Quick
Auto Front Wheel Drive Amateur and Spectator Races.
Defending division champion John Robbins holds a 199 point advantage over Billy
Smith in the Newco Metals Legends. Third is Mark Dietzen with Adam Roberts and
Clark Dietzen completing the top five.
In the ThunderCar division, Lonny Burton finished outside of the top five last
weekend, but still has a 41 point lead over Sam Folsom. Third is Tom Tacket with
Travis Burge and Tim Nickerson filling out the top five.
Earning his second victory in three weeks propelled Kevin Harmon to a 81 point
lead in the Quick Auto Front Wheel Drive Amateur division. Second is Andy Keller
with Jared Keller just two markers behind second position. The remainder of the
top five includes Jeff Saxon and Ray Zirkle.
On Friday Night, spectator gates open at 5:30 p.m. with the racing program
beginning at 8. Admission is $7 for adults and $4 for kids ages 6-12. Children
five and under get in free.
On Saturday Night, the Newco Metals Legends will be featured in their biggest
event of the season as the INEX National Qualifier event will showcase a 100-lap
feature.
In the Ed Martin Chevrolet SuperTrucks, Joe Beaver leads Josh Poore by 33
markers. Third is Rod Phipps with Jerry Faucett and Josh Timmerman completing
the top five.
Ranny Hinton continues to pace the ImmediaDent Figure 8 point standings. For the
last two weeks, former division champion Ronnie Phipps has been behind the wheel
as Hinton recovers from a medical condition. Second is Rob Allman with the
remainder of the top five including Ronnie Rose, Mike Riddle Jr. and Joe Hart
Jr.
On Saturday Night, spectator gates open at 5 p.m. with the racing program
beginning at 8. Admission is $10 for adults and $4 for kids ages 6-12. Children
five and under get in free.
On Sunday night, the always entertaining Night of Thrills concludes an exciting
racing weekend at Anderson Speedway. The lineup features School Bus Figure 8’s,
Roll-Over Contest, Cork Screw Race, Spectator Race and Quick Auto Front Wheel
Drive Amateur division.
On Sunday Night, spectator gates open at 5 p.m. with free school bus rides at 6
pm and the Thrills beginning at 7. Admission is $10 for adults and $4 for kids
ages 6-12. Children five and under get in free.
