Figure 8 Madness
and Huge Fireworks Show on July 4th, O'Reilly USA Modifieds on Saturday Night
Anderson Speedway returns to racing action this weekend with a big double
header. On Friday, July 4th, Figure 8 Madness presented by Anderson/Madison
County Visitors & Convention Bureau will take place. Featured divisions include
the return of Outlaw Figure 8’s, ImmediaDent Figure 8’s, School Bus Figure 8’s,
Quick Auto Front Wheel Drive Figure 8’s and Trailer Races. The evening concludes
with WHBU/MAX presenting Set the Night to Music Fireworks.
On Saturday, July 5, the O’Reilly USA Modified Tour returns for a 50-lap event.
The Street Stocks, Newco Metals Legends and Quick Auto Front Wheel Drive Pro
division will also be on the schedule.
After more than five years Outlaw Figure 8 racing will return to Anderson
Speedway on Friday Night. Nearly 20 cars are expected for this exciting event.
Outlaw Figure 8 racing carries a rich and storied past at the world’s fastest
quarter mile oval. For nearly 28 years some of the greatest Outlaw Figure 8
drivers have battled off the high banks in front of huge crowds. This years
event promises to be just as entertaining as the first-ever event held here in
1980.
The School Bus Figure 8’s will make their second appearance of the season. In
their first visit in April as part of the Night of Thrills, race victories went
to Danny Stanley and Robin Cullen in the action packed races.
Anderson’s Ranny Hinton sits atop the ImmediaDent Figure 8’s with a 24 point
lead over Rob Allman. Third is Ronnie Rose with Mike Riddle Jr. listed in the
fourth position. Early season winner Joe Hart Jr. fills out the top five in the
point standings.
Andy Keller holds a 45 point lead over Donnie Ellis Jr. in the Quick Auto Front
Wheel Drive Figure 8’s. The remainder of the top five includes Harry LaShure,
Jared Keller and Tony Torres.
The Trailer Race will also be showcased on the Figure 8 course.
On Friday Night, spectator gates open at 4 p.m. with the racing program
beginning at 7. Admission is $12 for adults and $4 for kids ages 6-12. Children
five and under get in free.
The O’Reilly USA Modified Tour will make their only 2008 visit to Anderson
Speedway on Saturday, July 5. Scott Coe holds first position in the series point
standings with Ohio’s Kyle Jones ranked in second. Third is Brad Springer with
Tim Burkett and Scotty Tomasik completing the top five.
Jeff Perry holds the first position in the Street Stock standings with a 39
point cushion over Ronnie Rose. Third is last week’s winner Rob Allman with
Katie Jackson and Jake McElfresh rounding out the top five.
After scoring a victory last weekend, John Robbins extended his point’s lead
over Billy Smith to 76 markers. The remainder of the top five includes Mark
Dietzen, Clark Dietzen and David Moyes lll.
In the Quick Auto Front Wheel Drive Pro division, Randy Hoppes holds the first
position with a 65 point lead over Gary Bragg Jr. Third is Jack Leisure with
Kevin Harmon and Donnie Ellis Jr. rounding out the top five.
On Saturday Night, spectator gates open at 5 p.m. with the racing program
beginning at 8. Admission is $10 for adults and $4 for kids ages 6-12. Children
five and under get in free.
