WLBC / MAX Summer Series Kicks Friday; H.O.S.S. Winged Sprints on Saturday Night

Anderson Speedway returns to racing action this weekend. On June 20, it will mark the third attempt to kick off the WLBC / MAX Friday Night Summer Series. The weather looks favorable for the debut of the Friday night program that will showcase USAC Kenyon Midgets, ThunderCars along with Quick Auto Front Wheel Drives in Oval and Figure 8 action.

In the opening seven events of the Kenyon Midgets schedule, Drew Charlson leads the series with three feature victories while Caleb Armstrong has scored two checkered flags. Other race winners include Mike Terry Jr. and Dillon Welch.

Lonnie Burton and Travis Burge are tied for the first position in the ThunderCar point standings after three events. Sam Folsom ranks in third position with Dennis Farver Sr. and Tom Tacket rounding out the top five.

The Quick Auto Front Wheel Drive Oval division will compete in their first event of the 2008 racing season. In the Figure 8’s, experienced racer Andy Keller holds a 25 point lead over Harry LaShure with Donnie Ellis Jr., Jared Keller and Ronnie Phipps filling out the top five.

On Friday Night, spectator gates open at 5:30 p.m. with the racing program beginning at 8. Admission is $7 for adults and $4 for kids ages 6-12. Children five and under get in free.

On Saturday, the H.O.S.S. Winged Sprints return to Anderson Speedway for one of only two appearances this year. The Street Stocks and ImmediaDent Figure 8’s will also be part of the racing card.

Qualifying track record holder Geoff Kaiser sits atop the H.O.S.S. point standings with a 23 point lead over former champion Greg Wheeler. Third is Jerry Caryer with Sam Davis and Tom Green rounding out the top five.

In the Street Stocks, Jake McElfresh holds a slim four point lead over Jeff Perry. The most recent feature winner Ronnie Rose sits in third spot, only five markers from the first position. 2008 feature winners Katie Jackson and Rob Allman complete the top five.

Rob Allman leads Ranny Hinton by 38 markers in the ImmediaDent Figure 8’s. Third is former champion Mike Riddle Jr., with Ronnie Rose and last week’s winner Joe Hart Jr. completing the top five in the division point standings.

On Saturday Night, spectator gates open at 5 p.m. with the racing program beginning at 8. Admission is $10 for adults and $4 for kids ages 6-12. Children five and under get in free.
