Series Kicks Off Friday Night; Four Divisions to Appear on Saturday

Speedway returns to racing action on Friday, June 6 with the debut of the WLBC /
MAX Friday Night Summer Series. The racing lineup includes Newco Metals Legends,
ThunderCars along with Quick Auto Front Wheel Drive Oval and Figure 8’s.
In the Newco Metals Legends, John Robbins continues to hold the first position
with a 47 point lead on Mark Dietzen. Veteran Billy Smith ranks third with Clark
Dietzen and last week’s winner David Moyes lll completing the top five.
Lonnie Burton sits atop the ThunderCar point standings after two events. Sam
Folsom ranks in second spot, just 15 markers from the top spot. Third in the
standings is last week’s winner Travis Burge with Dennis Farver Sr. and Tom
Tacket rounding out the top five.
The Quick Auto Front Wheel Drive Oval division will compete in their first event
of the 2008 racing season. In the Figure 8 division, Andy Keller holds a 25
point lead over Harry LaShure with Donnie Ellis Jr., Jared Keller and Ronnie
Phipps filling out the top five.
On Friday Night, spectator gates open at 5:30 p.m. with the racing program
beginning at 8. Admission is $7 for adults and $4 for kids ages 6-12. Children
five and under get in free.
On Saturday, the Ed Martin Chevrolet SuperTrucks, Street Stocks, ImmediaDent
Figure 8’s and Quick Auto Front Wheel Drive pro divisions will be showcased on
the world’s fastest quarter-mile oval.
Joe Beaver continues to hold the first position in Ed Martin Chevrolet
SuperTruck point standings with a 36 point lead over Josh Poore, who scored the
feature victory last weekend. Jerry Faucett is ranked third with Rod Phipps and
Mark Livesay filling out the top five.
The Street Stock division continues to feature a close points with Jake
McElfresh atop the standings with a 46 point lead over Jeff Perry. Third is
Katie Jackson with most recent winner Ronnie Rose in fourth and Rob Allman
rounding out the top five.
Earning two victories and consistent performances propelled Rob Allman to the
ImmediaDent Figure 8’s points lead. Second is Ranny Hinton with Mike Riddle Jr.
in third position. Ronnie Rose and Shawn Cullen fill out the top five.
Randy Hoppes has put together a superb start to the Quick Auto Front Wheel Drive
Pro division to build a 34 point lead on Gary Bragg Jr. Third is Trevor Abbot
with Michael Phipps in fourth and Gary Bragg in fifth position.
On Saturday Night, spectator gates open at 5 p.m. with the racing program
beginning at 8. Admission is $10 for adults and $4 for kids ages 6-12. Children
five and under get in free.
