Six Divisions

Speedway returns to racing action on Saturday, May 31 with six divisions of
racing scheduled to compete. The featured divisions include Ed Martin Chevrolet
SuperTrucks, Street Stocks, ImmediaDent Figure 8’s, KOIL Legend Series,
ThunderCars and the Thunder Roadsters showcased in an exhibition race.
Noblesville’s Joe Beaver, who leads virtually every category in the Ed Martin
Chevrolet SuperTrucks career statistics, continues to put together a superb 2008
season. He produced a second division victory on May 21 that has added to his
points lead. Other early season challengers include Josh Poore, Mark Livesay,
Rod Phipps and former champion Ronnie Rose.
After notching a second season victory during the Spring Championships, Rob
Allman extended his points lead to 45 markers over Ranny Hinton. Third is Mike
Riddle Jr., who remains in striking distance with Ronnie and Herb Rose
completing the top five.
The closest points battle is now featured in the Street Stock division, with
Jake McElfresh three points ahead of Jeff Perry. Most recent winner Katie
Jackson rose to third spot, only 21 markers from first position. Rob Allman and
Ronnie Rose round out the top five in the standings.
Lonnie Burton opened his search for the ThunderCar championship with a victory
during Spring Championships on May 17. Early season challengers include Dennis
Farver Sr., Sam Folsom, Travis Burge and PJ Swallows.
The KOIL Legends Series will return to the world’s fastest quarter-mile oval on
Saturday night. John Robbins ranks first in the Newco Metals Legends with a 47
point margin on Mark Dietzen. Third is Billy Smith with Clark Diezten ranked in
fourth spot.
On Saturday Night, spectator gates open at 5 p.m. with the racing program
beginning at 8. Admission is $10 for adults and $4 for kids ages 6-12. Children
five and under get in free.
