Waves for Livesay, Saxon, McElfresh and Riddle
Anderson Speedway returned to racing action on Saturday, May 10. Grenefield’s
Mark Livesay recorded his first career Ed Martin Chevrolet SuperTrucks feature
while Jeff Saxon scored a second consecutive Quick Auto Front Wheel Drive Pro
Division feature win. Elwood’s Jake McElfresh became the second first time
winner of the evening after claiming top honors in the Street Stocks. Former
champion Mike Riddle Jr. added another victory to his career with capturing the
ImmediaDent Figure 8 feature.
Mark Livesay started on the pole and led every lap on his way to winning the Ed
Martin Chevrolet SuperTruck feature. Livesay could never get away from Ronnie
Rose, who ran second the entire race, waiting for the race leader to make a
mistake. Livesay never faltered and Rose would come home second, with last
week’s winner Josh Poore finishing third. Rounding out the top five finishers
were smokin’ Joe Beaver in fourth and Scott Brooks grabbing the fifth spot.
Jeff Saxon won a caution filled Quick Auto Front Wheel Drive Pro Division
feature. Saxon never ran consistently in the top five during the race, but found
victory when Gary Bragg, Jr., Randy Hoppes, and Kevin Harmon all were caught up
in an incident with two laps to go and Michael Phipps got into Gary Bragg on the
final lap. Jack Leisure finished second, Jerry Baker third, Dennis Farver, Jr.
fourth and Harmon rounded out the top five.
Jake McElfresh won his first career Street Stock feature after grabbing the top
spot midway through the race from Randy Hoppes. Rich Boyer pressured McElfresh
the last few laps and had several chances to pass the leader, but never found
his way around the McElfresh. Boyer would take the second finishing spot, with
Joe Beaver coming from deep in the field to finish third. Anderson’s Rob Allman
grabbed fourth with Jon Conklin in fifth position.
Mike Riddle Jr. won an exciting ImmediaDent Figure 8 feature race. Riddle went
wire-to-wire during a night when few cautions flew and many fans cheered the
exciting crossover action. Riddle and then second place car Ranny Hinton gave
fans a thrill when they split two cars racing at the end of the lead lap. Hinton
was unable to finish after mechanical problems developed. Michael Phipps
advanced to second with Ronnie Rose finishing third. Rob Allman crossed the
finish line in a distant fourth with Herb Rose not far behind in fifth spot.
Anderson Speedway welcomes five racing divisions to the track next Saturday
