Mother Nature Forces Postponement of Anderson Speedway's Weekend Activities

The forecast for blustery conditions and precipitation this weekend has forced Anderson Speedway officials to postpone this Saturday’s, Ivy Tech Night at the races featuring the Great Deals 125 CRA Super Late Model race. All weather stations and websites have predicted temperatures to fall throughout the 40’s all day Saturday with high winds and a likely chance of rain. The practice set for Friday night has also been postponed.

“This is one of our premier events of the season and I want the fans and competitors to be treated to the best possible conditions for it”, said Rick Dawson, President of Anderson Speedway. “We have a long season with many better weather days coming consequently I think postponing this event to later is in everyone’s best interest. This is the second year in a row that this weekend has been postponed due to cold weather and I’m not sure I am convinced yet that Global Warming is an issue, at least for Anderson Indiana”.

The entire event has been rescheduled for June 15th. The event will include the Great Deals 125 CRA Super Late Model race; Immediadent Figure 8’s, Quick Auto Front Wheel Drive Pro’s and ThunderCars have been added. The Street Stocks originally scheduled for this Saturday will be added at a latter date. “Adding this event on Father’s Day will be a special treat for the fans” said Dawson, “This will be a big weekend at the Speedway following the big CRA Street Stock race on Saturday, June 14th. We will have a special Father’s Day celebration full of fun and excitement for dads and their families.”

Racing resumes Saturday, April 19th with the annual appearance of the ARCA Lincoln Welder Truck Series, CRA Sportsman cars and the Quick Auto Front Wheel Drive Figure 8’s. Gates will open at 3:30 with racing beginning at 7. Adult tickets are $10, children 6 – 12 $4 and under 6 are free.
