WLBC / MAX Summer Series on Friday, School Bus
Figure 8's Return on Saturday Night
Anderson Speedway returns to action
this weekend with the WLBC / MAX Friday Night Summer Series featuring the first
appearance of the UMRA Midgets. The August 24 program will also include
ThunderCars along with Chappy’s Rent to Own Front Wheel Drives in Oval and
Figure 8 action.
Watch the NASCAR races Friday and Saturday nights on our big screen
television provided by Chappy’s Rent to Own. A weekend special will also take
place with Budweiser and Bud Light selling for $2.
On Friday Night, spectator gates open at 5 p.m. with the racing program
beginning at 8. Admission is $7 for adults and $4 for kids ages 6-12. Children
five and under get in free.
The United Midget Racing Association (UMRA) will make their initial appearance
at the World’s Fastest Quarter Mile Oval on Friday night. Heading into this
weekend’s action, Terry Goff leads Oogie Goff by 254 points in the series
standings. The remainder of the top five includes Ron Combs, Scott Petry with
former Anderson Speedway race winner Tate Martz rounding out the top five.
Nick Warner continues to hold the first position in the ThunderCar standings
with a 48 point margin over Lonny Burton. Third in the standings is Sam Folsom,
who was collected a division best six checkered flags. Alexandria’s Alice Riall
and Anderson’s Tim Nickerson complete the top five.
Bryan Wright sits atop the Chappy’s Rent to Own Front Wheel Drive Oval standings
after recording 11 top-five finishes and 16 top 10s. Second is Allen Wagner with
Kevin Harmon in third position. Nick Warner paces the Figure 8 division with 13
feature victories. Jeff Wright and Tim Tharp round out the top three in the
standings.
On Saturday, August 25, the School Bus Figure 8’s return to action at Anderson
Speedway. The racing program will also showcase the 3rd Annual ThunderCup, CSR
Mini Cups and a special Chappy’s Rent to Own Front Wheel Drive Oval event.
On Saturday Night, spectator gates open at 5 p.m. with the racing program
beginning at 8. Admission is $10 for adults and $4 for kids ages 6-12. Children
five and under get in free.
Always a fan favorite, the School Bus Figure 8’s will make their first
appearance since a thrilling event on the Fourth of July. Cory Elliott scored
the victory in that action-packed event. He finished ahead of Danny Stanley Jr.
and veteran driver Ronnie Phipps.
The 3rd Annual ThunderCup is a special 30-lap feature for the ThunderCar
division. Alice Riall won the inaugural event in 2005 with division champion
Dustin Burge scoring the victory in last year’s version. A special Chappy’s Rent
to Own Front Wheel Drive Oval event will also take place on Saturday night.
The CSR Mini Cups make their first appearance of the season. They are ½ scale
stock cars and feature divisions for adults and juniors. Last July, Gary Woodson
won a 35-lap event that featured 30 cars in the starting field.
