Lampco Federal Credit Union Weekend at the
Races Set for Friday and Saturday
The
Lampco Federal Credit Union Weekend at the Races is set for Anderson Speedway on
Friday, August 17 and Saturday, August 18. On Friday, the WLBC/MAX Summer Series
will showcase Newco Metals Legends, ThunderCars along with Chappy’s Rent to Own
Front Wheel Drives in Oval and Figure 8 action.
On Friday Night, spectator gates open at 5 p.m. with the racing program
beginning at 8. Admission is $7 for adults and $4 for kids ages 6-12. Children
five and under get in free.
Frankton’s John Robbins continues to hold the first position in the Newco Metals
Legends with an 88 point advantage over defending division champion Rodney
Smith. The two dominant competitors this season have combined for nine feature
victories. Billy Smith is third in the standings with Mark Dietzen and James
Edsall lll rounding out the top five.
Aboard the Chris Portwood owned ThunderCar, Nick Warner sits atop the season
standings. Lonny Burton ranks second with four wins and third is rookie Sam
Folsom, who has collected six victories. Alice Riall and Tim Nickerson complete
the top-five finishers. The top four are separated by 85 markers.
In the Chappy’s Rent to Own Front Wheel Drive Oval division, Bryan Wright leads
the standings over Allen Wagner and Kevin Harmon. In the Figure 8’s, Nick Warner
continues his impressive season, recording 13 checkered flags. His closest
chasers are Jeff Wright and Donnie Ellis Jr.
On Saturday, August 18, the world’s fastest quarter-mile oval features Ed Martin
Auto Group SuperTrucks, Lampco Federal Credit Union Street Stocks and Figure
8’s. The speedway is scheduling a special pre-race ceremony to honor Bob Lemen,
who suffered a fatal heart attack last Saturday night after finishing fifth in
his final SuperTruck event.
On Saturday Night, spectator gates open at 5 p.m. with an Autograph Session
taking place at 7 p.m. in the Big Tent. The special ceremony for Bob Lemen will
take place at approximately 8 p.m. with the racing program to follow. Admission
is $10 for adults and $4 for kids ages 6-12. Children five and under get in
free.
In Ed Martin Auto Group SuperTrucks, the truck owned by Bob Lemen holds a 116
point margin with four events remaining. Bret Miles Jr. will drive the No. 47
for the remainder of the season. Brandon Phillips is second in the standings
with Josh Poore, Brian Lemmer and Scott Brooks filling out the top five.
Season victory leader Jake Owens holds first position in the Lampco Federal
Credit Union Street Stocks with a 52 point advantage over Willy DeHart. Third is
Rob Allman with Jake McElfresh and Abe Puckett completing the top five.
Rod Phipps ranks first in the Figure 8 standings with a 75 point lead over
Ronnie Rose. Rookie Dustin Burge, Ranny Hinton and Bobby Long round out the top
five.
