By Cassie Marcum
Anderson Speedway returned to action on June 1, with the MAX/WLBC Friday Night
Summer Series featuring Newco Metals Legends, ThunderCars along with Chappy’s
Rent to Own Front Wheel Drives in Oval and Figure 8 racing.
Anderson’s own Nick Warner was the first to take the checkered flag in the
Chappy’s Rent to Own Front Wheel Drive Figure 8’s, scoring his sixth victory of
the season. The 10-lap event began with Jeff Wright leading the pack for the
first two circuits. Warner took the lead from Wright on the third circuit and
maintained in that position and was able to hold off Donnie Ellis Jr. for the
win. Travis Burge placed third with Dennis Farver Sr. and Jeff Wright rounding
out the top five.
The Newco Metals Legends competed in an action-packed 25-lap event. Billy Smith
led the pack in the starting position, but that was short lived because Eric
Black was again able to grab the lead at the start, pacing the first 10 laps.
Then on the 11th circuit, the number 59 of Bryan Nuckles was able to steal the
lead from Black and drove away with the victory over Rodney Smith. Defending
race winner John Robbins placed third with Black and James Edsall III finishing
out the top five.

with the rookie coming home with a 10th place finish. Nick Warner took home the
checkered flag for his second win of the night. Warner was able to take the lead
on the first lap from Darryl Rogers and led the entire 20-lap race to take the
win over Alexandria’s Alice Riall. Third place went to Tim Nickerson, with Lonny
Burton and Tim Dick filling out the top five.

Riall claiming the second event. Folsom claimed the fastest lap with a time of
15.172 seconds.
