Trent Goes Back to Back in Late Models

Danny Trent claimed his second consecutive McGunegill Engine Performance Late Model feature win in a race slowed numerous times. Kevin Gross took the early lead but was passed by Trent on the fourth of the 40 circuits on the back straight. A lap later Gross lost three positions to Charlie Keevan, Scotty Tomasik and Kent Baledge. By lap eight Tomasik and Baledge were running second and third when contact was made between the two drivers in turn three on lap 21 sending them to the rear of the field. After two more cautions including for a spin by Baledge on lap 33 and the laps winding down it became a battle for the second spot between Keevan, Tomasik and Baledge. On the final circuit Tomasik and Keevan made contact entering turn one, collecting the cars of Baledge and Cole Mizio. Following Trent to the checkers were Nick Krnonenberg, Gross, Tomasik and Keevan. “We had a good car again tonight,” Trent said in the Riley & Sons Victory Lane. “It would take a few laps for the tire pressures to come up and for the car to get going.”
