Speedway Hosting Bob Carey Memorial

Anderson Speedway will host the Herald Bulletin Night at the races featuring the Bob Carey Memorial for the Mel Kenyon Midget Series this Saturday.

The Bob Carey Memorial race will have the Mel Kenyon Midgets doing battle for 50-laps on the high banks of Anderson Speedway. The McGunegill Engine Performance Late Models will be in action for a sixth time, the Marcum Welding Pro Compacts return for a sixth time and the Thunder Roadsters in their sixth event of 2015.

Bob Carey was born in Anderson in 1904. One of the highpoints of Carey’s racing career came in 1931 when Louis Meyer hired him to drive his Judson Miller single-seater. That same year Carey qualified his number Meyer car 14th and finished the “500” is a remarkable 4th spot following several spins.

Kyle O’Gara has won two Kenyon Midget races this year at Anderson with Clayton Gaines winning with a dramatic last lap pass for the victory earlier in the year.

Jeff Marcum has driven into the AutoFarm McCrocklin Ford winner’s circle the last two times the MEP Late Models have been in action. Jack Dossey III has two wins and Scott Tomasik won the season opening event in April.

Adam Lee is coming off this third victory of the year in the Pro Compact Division with Randy Hoppes, Ryan Claborn and Jeff Williams also claiming wins this season.

John Robbins will be seeking his fifth consecutive win in Thunder Roadsters action after Doug Dugger won the season opener.

Gates open at 5 p.m. with qualifying at 6:30 with racing scheduled for 8:00
