Anderson, Indiana (February 3, 2020): Bobby Santos III is the first entry for the 72nd Annual Pay Less Little 500 presented by UAW. He will once again be driving for Dick Fieler and the DJ Racing team.

The 34-year-old racer has made six Little 500 starts in his career. He has been the runner-up on two occasions. He finished second to Kyle Hamilton in 2017 and once again to Kody Swanson in 2019. In addition, he has led 327 laps in those 6 starts. Santos III has made five of his six starts for Dick Fieler and DJ Racing.

Anderson Speedway has been one of the few tracks where a win has eluded the Franklin, Massachusetts driver in recent years. He has been one of the top runners in the past 10 non-wing races at Anderson Speedway. In the past two seasons, Santos III has finished in the top 5 in 7 of the 10 races. However, he hasn’t be able to stand on the top step of the podium. He was close in 2019 for the September Thursday Night Sprint Race. Severe weather moved in while Santos III was leading, and the race was forced to be postponed. He missed the makeup race because of the Musket 250 at New Hampshire Speedway, a race he was able to win. Santos III secured one win at Anderson Speedway back in 2011 in the 50 Lap Glen Niebel Classic.

“I wish I knew exactly what it takes to master Anderson Speedway, I’m still trying to figure everything out,” explained Bobby Santos III. “But I do believe a lot of patience and being smooth are important to success there.”

Santos III has been a threat to win in any race he enters. Santos III can be seen driving NASCAR Whelen modifieds, non-wing sprint cars, winged sprint cars, and silver crown cars over the course of a season.  Santos III is a ten-time USAC Silver Crown winner and an 18-time NASCAR Whelen modified winner. In 2019, he won nine sprint car races, six King of the Wing races, two Auto Value Super Sprint races, and one Must See Racing race.

Santos III’s Little 500 campaign will receive support from Simpson Race Products, Wilwood Brakes, Brown Miller Racing Solutions, and DMI. Santos III continues to search for the winning combination and what is takes to win the Little 500.

“I’m confident in what I have to win the Little 500 every year,” said Bobby Santos III. “I have a great team first of all that gives me awesome pit stops. Our car setup typically has the speed to run in the top 5. So, I think my keys to success in 2020 are not making any mental mistakes and capitalizing.”
